One of music's final big nights of the year, the American Music Awards, are beginning. And the stars have brought out their best red carpet statement fashion as the holiday season begins.

The 2019 American Music Awards in Los Angeles overnight with the top names in music gathering for the event. Taking place at the Microsoft Theatre, the annual awards ceremony honours the very best in the music industry, and this year was no different.

Despite recent tumultuous events, Taylor Swift ( who arrived on the red carpet in a sparkly green look by Julien Macdonald ) took to the stage to perform a medley of her greatest hits as she was crowned Artist of the Decade.

No awards show is complete without a red carpet, and the AMAs is renowned for being particularly bold and bold it certainly was. Celebrities took the style antics up a notch this year for some buzz-worthy looks.

Christina Aguilera rocked a white sequinned, hooded creation from Jean Paul Gaultier, whilst Lizzo and Selena Gomez both got the neon memo in Valentino and Versace respectively (Lizzo’s miniature Valentino handbag was an accessory highlight, too).

Billie Eilish, the youngest artist to ever be nominated across the awards’ top four categories, went for a look that can only be described as fashion beekeper by Burberry. Lil Nas X and Dua Lipa were also spotted on the night making there statement as some of the new artists in the block.

The 2019 American Music Awards, was hosted by Grammy-winning singer Ciara and had several showstopping performances planned.

Selena Gomez opened the show with the world premiere of two songs. Billie Eilish made her first ever awards show performance, and Shania Twain took to the stage with a medley of her greatest hits.

Additional performers included Christina Aguilera, Toni Braxton, Camila Cabello, Green Day, Halsey, Jonas Brothers, Kesha feat. Big Freedia, Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Post Malone feat. Ozzy Osbourne, Travis Scott and WATT, Shawn Mendes, and Thomas Rhett.
